Quickly navigate through Windows Vista

windows start search box

There is a way to easily and quickly navagate through Windows Vista using the Start Search box. With DOS or Linux people use commands to quickly go places and open programs. Start Search allows you to find files and open programs just by typing them in. If you have any lost files or programs that are still on your computer, start search allows you to find them.

Follow up:

To open up a program just type in its name. For example, if you want to open up internet explorer then type "internet explorer". If you want to open Windows Media Player then type "Windows Media Player".

If you are a quick typer in comparison to moving your mouse and clicking through several items to get to a file then this way is quicker for you. Generally, this is the quickest way to open a program if it is not on the desktop of the computer because it seems as if after All Programs is clicked in the start menu it takes a long time to load the short cut and program files.
