AskYourPC exists to help people solve technology problems with clear explanations, careful troubleshooting, and practical next steps. This policy describes how content is researched, prepared, reviewed, corrected, and kept independent from advertising.
Publisher and authorship
AskYourPC is operated by James Jenkins. His professional focus includes DevOps, infrastructure automation, troubleshooting, repeatable processes, and clear documentation. Learn more on the James Jenkins author page.
Articles should identify their author or publisher context where readers would reasonably expect it. Authorship is not used to claim expertise beyond the author’s actual background.
Research standards
AskYourPC prioritizes first-party documentation from operating-system developers, device manufacturers, software publishers, standards organizations, and government cybersecurity resources. Secondary sources may provide context, but important technical claims and risky procedures should be checked against current authoritative documentation when available.
Sources should be linked close to the relevant claim or collected in a clearly labeled source section. External material is summarized in original language; AskYourPC does not republish complete third-party articles or documentation.
Practical verification
Instructions are checked for logical sequence, supported product versions, meaningful prerequisites, and likely failure modes. Commands, settings paths, and recovery procedures are tested when practical or compared with current first-party documentation. Because hardware, software, regions, and account configurations vary, not every instruction can be reproduced on every supported device.
Articles should explain important risks before destructive or difficult-to-reverse steps. Readers should be encouraged to protect important data and stop when their screen, device, or circumstances do not match the instructions.
Writing and review
Content should use descriptive headings, plain language, accurate terminology, and enough context for readers to understand what a step does. Articles should avoid unsupported guarantees, exaggerated titles, unnecessary jargon, fabricated quotations, and claims that one fix works for every system.
Before publication or a significant update, content should be checked for accuracy, clarity, source quality, broken links, heading structure, image loading, and usability on desktop and mobile.
Automation and AI-assisted tools
AskYourPC may use automation or AI-assisted tools to help organize research, prepare drafts, improve grammar, format WordPress content, locate potential inconsistencies, or support technical verification. These tools do not replace editorial responsibility. James Jenkins remains responsible for reviewing the material, checking important claims against reliable sources, correcting errors, and deciding what is published.
AskYourPC does not intentionally publish invented hands-on experience, fabricated sources, fake quotations, or unreviewed mass-generated articles. When the way content was produced is materially important to understanding it, additional context should be provided.
Corrections and updates
Technology changes. AskYourPC may revise articles when an operating system, application, device, command, safety recommendation, or official source changes. Material corrections should preserve the article’s purpose while replacing unsupported or outdated guidance.
Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. Include the page URL, affected section, device or software version when relevant, and a supporting first-party source if available. Reports are evaluated, but a requested change is not guaranteed.
Safety and scope
AskYourPC provides general educational information, not individualized repair, legal, medical, financial, or incident-response advice. High-risk work involving electricity, damaged batteries, liquid damage, irreplaceable data, organizational systems, or possible compromise should be escalated to the manufacturer, service provider, employer, or a qualified professional. Advertising does not determine editorial conclusions. AskYourPC may display contextual or personalized advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertisers do not receive advance approval of ordinary editorial content.
